About the Project

Yang Fudong is one of China’s most renowned film and photography artists. His work »New Women« is a tribute to the Chinese movie industry’s early days and an important part of the Wemhöner Collection.

Distanz Verlag published the tri-lingual exhibition catalog on the occasion of the exhibition of »New Women« at the Sexauer Gallery in mid-2018. For the viewer to truly understand the narrative and become immersed in Fudong’s piece of art, we divided the book into five chapters resembling the five channels of the installation. Every chapter shows movie stills, sequences, and AR trigger images and follows each storyline’s chronology.
